Rose Solomon, the daughter of refugees from Ethiopia, was working as a Peer Mentor at Outside the Frame when she realized her family's stories needed to be documented.

“In 2019 I experienced homelessness for about 9 months. After I reconnected with my family they started telling me stories because there was a certain level of respect , “Oh, you’ve been on your own journey. I will impart these stories on a level that I know you’ll get because you have walked in my shoes.”

The film was produced through Outside the Frame’s expanding Film Career programming, with the mentorship of Erin Yanke (It Did Happen Here, Arresting Power) and support from the Regional Arts and Culture Council and the Creative Opportunity Program.

Rose says this film is for “anyone who has experienced life as a refugee, anyone who has experienced housing instability, people who want to learn more about their neighbors, and people who like documentary films.”
