This spring, OTF participants premiered their original song, "In the Grey Wild," with the Oregon Symphony Orchestra and its Creative Chair, Gabriel Kahane - who led the songwriting workshop and musical arrangement - to a crowd of 1500 at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Thank you to everyone who came out! Thank you Oregon Symphony for this beautiful collaboration.

As if that wasn't enough, during the evening Outside the Frame was honored with the Schnitzer Wonder Award, which comes with a $10,000 monetary prize. Thank you Oregon Symphony and Jordan Schnitzer for supporting the arts and the next generation.

"Outside the Frame’s innovative approach of training and empowering homeless and marginalized youth exemplifies the transformative power of the arts,” says Oregon Symphony President Scott Showalter. “It is with great honor that we present this award in recognition of OTF’s exceptional efforts in providing a platform for creative expression, fostering job skills, and building a strong sense of community through their work in the field of filmmaking.”

"The song you’re about to hear was created—through a series of writing exercises, conversations, and brainstorming sessions—by the eight courageous and indefatigable young people you see at the front of the stage. Working with them has been one of the great honors of my creative life." Oregon Creative Chair Gabriel Kahane.
